Which clearly shows it’s been recognized by the OS - just fails to mount for some reason: $ diskutil info /dev/disk3 It seems there’s some incompatibility between latest Mac OS and this drive firmware.Īdding some more info on the matter, here’s a printout from Terminal: /dev/disk3 (external, physical):ġ: Apple_HFS WD2TB TimeMachine 2.0 TB disk3s1 Was able to mount it on windows using HFS Explorer without any issues and copy some files out. If trying to open Disk Utility while the drive is plugged in - it will continue to spin indefinitely until I pull the drive out. Was working 100% until the upgrade from 10.11.5 to 10.12.4 - which it worked fine for one TM backup and then the mac stopped recognizing it and auto mounting it. I also have a “My Passport Ultra” (P/N: WDBMWV0020BBK-05) which was formatted as a HFS+ on the 1st day it was bought to be used mainly as a Time Machine Device and other backups.
